Meet Superior Associates

WHO WE ARE

Superior Associates was founded in February of 2006.

We have gone through many changes over the years – but at our founding the vision was to always do our best to put customers and service first coupled with being as honest as possible. There have been times when we will consult and help customers come up with physical layer communication systems and solutions that we do not represent, or profit from because long term honesty and fairness in a attempt to build forever relationships is always better than short term profits and a type of greed that doesn’t help anyone. It’s not always been easy, and we certainly have not been perfect in all our attempts, but this has been our goal. As I have had the pleasure to have several excellent professionals work for us over the years I have always told them… “as long as you have the customers best interest at the heart of what you do and you always stand for the truth, you will never have an issue being part of our team.” This has served us well and we do our best to apply the same principles with our manufacturing partners. We find it an honor to be able to represent the manufacturer’s we have and we take our representative contracts very seriously. Superior Associates is keenly aware that all sales and representative firms sell products – we choose to leverage ourselves in every interaction possible- this is what makes the “superior” difference.

President

Started in the Telecommunications/ Communications industry in 1985 with the world leader in communications distribution at a branch in Detroit, MI. In Jan. 1991 I moved to Nashville, TN in a Sales Manager role and then in 1993, moved to Huntsville, AL as Branch Manager and in 1994 I went to manage a larger branch in Charleston, SC. I moved back to Nashville in 1995 and went to work for two different regional distributors based out of Detroit, MI until 1999, at which time I started working in the Sales Representative firm side of this business. I have been in the rep side of the business ever since. Whether in distribution or as a manufacturer’s representative, my supreme focus has been on delivering an honest significant understanding and hands on training in regards to the Physical layer of communications. The years have snuck up on me, 2024 now marks my 39th year in this industry!

Karen Cornelius

Inside Sales & Ops Manager

Karen Cornelius started out in this industry in 1990. Worked as Inside Sales at Westinghouse Electrical Supply Company. She worked there for 8 years and took a break from the industry for 5 years where she owned a power equipment company in Snellville, GA. She closed her business and went to work for Graybar as a buyer and later moved into Inside Sales where she worked for 8 years. Then Karen got into the rep business as Insides Sales Support with Edwards Networking Products for 5 years and Phil Edwards sold his business and the name changed to LINC. Karen was there for almost 10 years. Then in January 2012, she came to work with Superior Associates as Inside Sales Support / Operations Manager and has been an absolute critical asset for us ever since…she is now in her 13th year with us. Karen would never write this about herself but when we were told about her, by her customers and other manufacturer’s we were told she was absolutely the best at her position that our customers had ever encountered. I was honestly doubtful of the praise (@ first) but Karen has proven to not only earn the title of “the best” but coupled with her commitment to honesty and integrity she is an integral part of Superior Associates, Inc. Karen never aspired to Outside Sales, she has said “I am best behind the scenes – taking care of customer issues and providing the best support I can."
